Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) tests advance knowledge and skills required to integrate into underlying network architectures. Furthermore, this certification validates a robust set of skills in implementing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting a converged IP network.

 With a CCVP certification, a network professional can help create a telephony solution that is transparent, scalable, and manageable. 

The CCVP curriculum focuses on Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Unified CallManager), quality of service (QoS), gateways, gatekeepers, IP phones, voice applications, and utilities on Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches.

There are two paths that can be taken to achieve CCVP certification.

1. For individuals using Cisco Unified Communications Manager the following path towards certification is recommended:

642-436 CVOICE Cisco Voice over IP AND Cisco Voice over IP fundamentals
642-446 CIPT1 Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager Part 1
642-642 QoS Quality of Service
642-456 CIPT2 Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager Part 2

2. For individuals using Cisco Unified CallManager the following path towards certification is recommended:

The Implementing Cisco Voice Gateways and Gatekeepers (642-453 GWGK) exam is associated with the Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) certification. 

This exam tests a candidate's knowledge of the implementation of Cisco gateways and gatekeepers, including integration of a VoIP network to both PSTN and TDM equipment. Topics covered include implementing dial plans and advanced gateway features such as SRST and DSP resources, implementing gatekeepers and directory gatekeepers to provide hierarchical dial plan resolution, and call admission control.
