* The online tests are provided by ETS itself, and free. These are only sample questions and the candidates need to prepare for TOEFL using recommended course material. CONTENTS:Additional Information:Exam Details :TOEFL test is available in two formats . 1.Internet-based Test 2.Paper-based Test The test takers can opt either the Internet-based Test (iBT) or the Paper-based Test (PBT), depending on which format is offered at the test center.
The TOEFL iBT measures skills in reading, listening, speaking and writing.
The TOEFL PBT measures how well the candidate read, listen and write in English. Writing skills are measured with the TWE (Test of Written English). TOEFL PBT contains 3 sections plus a writing test lasting 30 mins (TWE). Exam Information :TOEFL Internet-based Test Details :The TOEFL iBT measures skills in reading, listening, speaking and writing. Section-Wise Details 1. Reading Section Description : 3-5 passages from academic texts; approximately 700 words long; 12-14 questions per passage. Time : 60-100 minutes No of questions : 36-70 questions Score Scale : 0-30 2. Listening Section Description : 4-6 lectures, some with classroom discussion; each 3-5 minutes long; 6 questions each. 2-3 conversations; each 3 minutes long; 5 questions each Time : 60-90 minutes No of questions : 34-51 questions Score Scale : 0-30 3. Speaking Section Description : 2 tasks to express an opinion on a familiar topic; 4 tasks to speak based on what is read and listened to. Time : 20 minutes No of Questions : 6 tasks Score Scale : 0-4 points converted to 0-30 score scale 4. Writing Section Description : 1 task to write based on what is read and listened to; 1 task to support an opinion on a topic. Time : 50 minutes No of Questions : 2 tasks Score Scale : 0-5 points converted to 0-30 score scale TOEFL iBT fees vary by country. TOEFL Paper-based Test Details :TOEFL PBT contains 3 sections plus a writing test lasting 30 mins (TWE). The 3 sections are 1. Listening Comprehension : This measures the ability to understand English as it is spoken in North America. Time Limit : 30-40 mins No of Questions : 50 2. Structure and Written Expression : This measures the ability to recognize language that is appropriate for standard written English. Time Limit : 25 mins No of Questions : 40 3. Reading Comprehension : This measures the ability to understand non-technical reading material.
