MAPP - Measure of Academic Proficiency and Progress

Overview :

The MAPP test assesses 4 core skill areas : critical thinking, reading, writing and mathematics in a single test to gauge general education outcomes for improvements in the quality of instruction and learning.

This test can be taken by college freshers also.

Questions in the MAPP test are of multiple-choice and are arranged in blocks of three to eight. Each section tests the same types of skills.

The MAPP test measures:

• proficiency in critical thinking, reading, writing and mathematics in the context of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences
• academic skills developed, versus subject knowledge taught, in general education courses
  

Who Takes the Test and Why?

College freshmen, sophomores and upperclassmen take the MAPP test so that institutions can demonstrate program effectiveness for accreditation and funding purposes.

Colleges and universities can also conduct longitudinal studies with the MAPP test data to determine how much their students are learning and how they can improve learning outcomes.
